AFLC World Missionaries
We support five world missionaries through our Association of Free Lutheran Congregations. It is through your support that they can bring the gospel of Christ across the world! Please remember to keep our missionaries in your prayers. See below for information about each missionary.
Brent and Emily Raan | India
Brent and Emily Raan were called by AFLC World Missions in the Spring of 2015. They began serving on May 15, 2015 and were commissioned at the Annual Conference on June 17th at the Warm Beach Conference Center. Brent graduated from the AFLTS in May 2015 and was ordained at the Annual Conference. Brent and Emily Raan have been called as full time missionaries to India and began serving in March of 2016.
Nate and Rhoda Jore | Uganda
Nate and Rhoda Jore and their children, Elijah, Judah, Hannah, Jeremiah and Julia are AFLC missionaries to Uganda, East Africa. Nate and Rhoda arrived in Uganda to begin the work there in the fall of 2006. The first year was spent studying the language and culture and building relationships. They continue by ministering to the people and working with the training of pastors and leaders of the churches. You can get more information on the Jore family by following their blog here.
Matthew and Ednay Abel | Brazil
Matthew and Ednay Abel where commissioned as AFLC Missionaries at the 2015 Annual Conference. Matthew Abel completed studies at AFLBS and graduated from Northwestern College with a ICS major and a minor in Bible/Ministry. He attended AFLTS and Ednay attended AFLBS. Matthew and Ednay are serving in Brazil. They are working at the ARCA and with the Brazil churches. Both Matthew and Ednay will be continuing to complete their education as they work to support the ministry in Brazil. They are also presently researching a possible mission field in Switzerland.
Jonni Sliver | Brazil
Jonni was commissioned at the 2010 Annual Conference. Jonni has been a longtime member of Emmaus Lutheran Church (AFLC), Bloomington, MN. She is a graduate of Bethany Fellowship School of Missions and has served in Brazil from 1988 to 2004. She returned to the country for a short time in 2004 and then returned to Brazil where she began serving at the Miriam Infant home and our Bible school and seminary as of April 2011.
